Day Dreaming

Sorry, for the late post today! I worked many many hours yesterday then came in really early (was still a bit dark outside) this morning. Took about 5 cups of coffee to wake up.

Taking a quick break to eat my summer rolls and write a quick note to you all. I wish I was outside day dreaming under the pretty fluffy clouds. But I am not, I am inside with the outside being sorta of grey, cloudy and feeeling like October!!

well, back to work! You all have a wonderful day!!

MUSIC: Let Go

Imogen Heap is one of my favorite musicians. She is so real, raw and emotional. I have seen her perform twice in my life thus far, and I hope to see her again.
She makes me think about life, full and beautiful. I am always humming her songs when I am walking. Her music makes my heart sing, everyone knows I can't sing! BUT I do sing wonderfully in my head:)

What music makes you happy?

Just jump in!

Okay, this is a weird obsession but lately I have been drawn to the earthiness of antlers. (Just the antlers, no heads please) I have been seeing them everywhere. Your thoughts on antlers, do you like them or no!

DESIGN: Home to Badgley Mischka

I have been collecting images lately of antlers. I guess it is one of my new obsessions. I find them warm and charming (I tell myself they found them when the animal sheds the old for his new) I am completely loving this dressing room with the single chair and the photographs adorned with a few antlers from various animals. AND the piece I love most is the single horse sitting on the floor.
eee, more antlers they found in European hunting lodges and trophies found at flea markets & ebay. This library is stately. Perfect for sitting and flipping through a favorite novel. I would sit in the reddish brown colour chair since it is different and perhaps have a cup of tea with biscuits.

This bar tray is perfect. Love the carved legs. The black walls are elegant and regal, perfect for displaying a print of the hunt by Sir Alfred Munnings. Oh, I need to look for crystal decanters like these they found at a flea-market. I wish I was so lucky to find them. Need to add them to my wish list.

This kitchen is perfect!! 2 farmer sinks!!
I wish my kitchen was this large.... I am using the same finishes but my kitchen is a fraction of the size *sigh* I hope mine looks as good as this lovely room.
And look at the cookery book area!! perfect for all my vintage cookery book collection. It is quick extensive and I won't be able to show all my books so I will have to rotate. One day, I will have a large kitchen to show all my lovely books.

and this guest room is charming and warm. Another of my obsessions, portraits... this 19th century painting from Laurin Copen Antiques hangs above an Empire chest (another obsession, I have 2 pieces like this one!! which I am planning on painting them soon). The walls in the photo look to have a pinkish light to them, but the colour is Devon Cream by Benjamin Moore so I think it is the computer making it look pink.... but it does add a warmth to the room.

This weekend was a busy one. Painting and cleaning. I hope to post images of my home soon.... completed another area. Now I just have to set up the room and photograph. Soon, very soon.
I had a wonderful weekend; nesting, talking on the phone, reading and playing with sassy in the back yard. She is now loving the back yard and runs around like a mad dog!
How was your weekend, what fun adventures did you do??

This morning while walking to the train, I realized I have a great life. I am healthy and I am happy and I have a choice to enjoy life to the fullest. I then bought my morning cup of joe at Moca Loca and the sticker they place on the cup (you know the little one they place on the drink hole, so you don't slop coffee on yourself when running to the train!!) that sticker had a great quote

"You make me realize how beautiful my life is"

It made me smile!
Everyone in my life means something special to me, even all of you great readers of my little blog.
Thank you for being here for me!!!
Have a wonderful weekend!

PHOTOGRAPHY: Black and White filtered

Gentl & Hyers

I came across these lovely images while searching for new photographers. The filtered light is amazing. Each image is magical and lovely. I feel the mystery in each photograph, the house on the hill with the hazy light. The water girl, rising out of the stream. The lonely women with the pretty magnolia, where is my love? The glorious rose, blooming fragrant. The clothes line, where are the rest of my pretty tea towels? The kitty used to sleep here. and wood nymph morphing to human form. My imagination gets away from me at times. These images provoke such things, I can't help it. They are beautiful and delightful.

LONGING: calm and serene

Republic of the Marshall Islands, flickr

I have been dreaming of a vacation far off, where the water is beautiful and clear. I found these lovely images of the Republic of the Marshall Islands and they had me dreaming of a far off island with no electronic devices around. NO blackberries, NO phones, NO tv, NO anything with the outside world. Then I found these lovely interiors that bring that island calm and serenity home. *sigh*
Where do you long to be right now?

The sweetness and beauty of the butterflies.

Love the textures of birdcages, not so much the birds (i have a strange fear of live birds)

Photographer: Ditte Isager
I completely love this eating area,
the black chairs and the black bird cage with a wee black bird inside hanging on a silky black ribbon
against this pretty blue wall

The rawness of the antlers in the boxes with their pretty shades of grey & sand against the blue/green/greyish wall

I like how the antlers are just placed on the wall, randomly.
Elle Decor, Home of Scott Currie
the clear box of treasures, all the lacy corals on exhibit
so pretty and delicate

Interiors are perfect with a touch of nature, to me they make a house a home.

DESIGN: That little something special

When I design interiors I always try to find items, a piece of furniture, artwork or materials that makes a special statement. I feel it's important to mix things up a bit; soft & hard, neutral & bright. I love this blue Togo Chair, Ligne Roset with is plush softness next to this beautiful textured stone hearth. The Beat Vessels by Tom Dixon are an added WOW! The dull finish of the gold ties in with the warm natural tones in the stone.
I just want to sit in this chair and sip my hot toddy {if it was winter, not at the moment when it's 95 degrees out!!}
I am really into black and yellow at the moment! But the yellow has to be bright, acidy like this sofa...The shiny gloss of the doors is elegant & strong, yet grounding. Oh, that sofa!!! I want one in that sunny yellow colour for my office!
One of my favorite companies for wall covering: Timorous Beasties!!! Here you can see "McGegan Rose" Wallpaper along the bottom of the wall under the chair rail. My favorite pattern is Thistle, found here. The colours they use in their designs and the great themes are really clever. You have to really look at the pattern to see what I mean.... look here. Please note the gorgeous chandelier *sigh* loving the shape!!
In this image, I just adore that TV! I don't have a TV in my home but if I did.... It would have to be this one, who needs a flat screen when you can have a shiny black round TV. it would make me very happy!!

I have been collecting images with aged mirrors! I have a lot of mirrors that I have been collecting and would like to age a few of them to get this great aged look (but it's a bit scary, acid is involved and I am a clutz. NOT a good combo, right G!) Maybe I can find a stripping house to age my mirrors??
I love this black chair with it's aged leather and that union jack pillow!
Notice the glass box with the bird inside?? not sure what that is about! birds like that creep me out)

I am not getting ready to start adding the special touches to my home, hope to post images soon.
What special items, materials, art or pieces of furniture do you have in your home?
