Jim Austin, musician and surf-wear entrepreneur wanted a place to live and rent to regulars such as Lucinda WIlliams and Jim Lauderdale. His Architect Lloyd Russell, captured the essence of the desert... the sense of isolation for one to think and be creative.
With the reddish toned corrugated steel blending with the raw nature of the desert, the new home blends with the more rugged 1950's cabins on the property.

With the canopy over the the house, the use of floor to ceiling sliding doors and windows, opening the house up to the desert landscape.
I love the rustic mix with the modern feel. This is truly a fantastic get away place!!
