I am completely obsessed about colour at the moment. I am painting the guest bedroom (hopefully this weekend, over the holiday) I have to get rid of the nasty blue colour on the walls. When I was house searching every home had at least one room painted blue. Not a nice blue but a horrible nasty ugly blue.
So I am looking for a colour that would look lovely with the ones below.... the rest of my house is this colour scheme. I was thinking of fuschia on the walls with black trim. See the second to last image, that is my inspiration for the room!
Your thoughts?

should I paint the walls bold and pretty, with gold and black details?
or should I go more neutral and do something similar to below?

Horrible, nasty, ugly blue? I wonder, did that color come pre-mixed or was it a special order?
ReplyDeleteLove that first picture with the high ceilings and herringbone floor. I am all about the grey.
Cheers, G
Oh so pretty, they are a colour combination that don't get used enough. Very sophisticated, and beautiful - thanks Callie x
ReplyDeleteI love that photo with the fuschia walls! I can see that working beautifully, especially in a small space :)
ReplyDeleteloving your ideas, and you are inspiring me, because at the end of last year we painted our living room a soft grey and the ceiling a rich darker grey, now i too feel like i'm needing some purples and fuschia's to brighten and warm the space, plus they just go so darn well together! :)
ReplyDeleteBoth ideas sound wonderful. I think your house is gray right? The paint brand I came with came in a complimentary trio of light, medium, and dark and as much as I tried to mix and match the grays with other sets of gray they carried, nothing looked as good as what they had already put together.Anyway, I used a slightly darker version in my kitchen and sitting room and went for the lighter calmer gray throughout and everyone says the house flows. Can't wait to see what you do Callie!

i love the neutral shot at the bottom. lovely.
ReplyDeleteEek! How did I miss this post?!
ReplyDeleteMy living room is painted beige and there are hardwoods. We bought one couch in charcoal and one in off white. Our accent is plum and I've been wanting a complementary colour to throw in with it.
Marigold yellow and Magenta (if B will let me) would be perfect for this space; thanks, Callie!
I would vote for the last photo (neutrals with a bright accent like the yellow) as it seems calming yet warm and welcoming for your guests.
I love the grey with the lavender. Love it!
