Nicky Barthorp
"Plane trees, their fortitude, resistance & sinewy muscularity seemed to shield, defend and chaperon me with gallant composure."
I love trees. I have always enjoyed the grandeur, their towering majestic trunks reaching to the sky with their outreaching canopy of leaves. When I was in France, driving through the country, the plane and birch trees were amazingly beautiful. The sinewy trunks shielding those that ran through the woods. The history of what has pasted; historic, beautiful and mysterious.
I think that is why I am drawn to Nicky Barthrops paintings of such trees.

I love the look of birch trees - my mother has the most amazing "clumps" of birch trees in our backyard at home that are so graceful & pretty!

I love those pictures. I, too, paint - watercolor. But what has fascinate me the most is painting weeds - - their shapes - and often settings in marsh or high on a hill. Weeds can be so beautiful. Hope we can meet some day!
