ADVENTURE: Abandoned Sites

Okay,
This weekend started out rough. {my heart still aches, but my head is clear}
I ran my little heart out Friday night, music blaring in my ears.... muse. I just love muse!
Then I walked with Sassy through the woods on Saturday, 4 miles. Completed Saturday by going to a friends house who was having a girls night with a salsa instructor! We danced our little butts off! It was quite fun.
Then I woke up on Sunday and gutted my bathroom out. Stripped it down, prepping it for all the new stuff I have been collecting.  I will be brushing my teeth in the kitchen for the next few weeks but it will be worth it!!
I have been photo documenting it, so I will post all about the process to final in October. eeeeee, very excited about my new bathroom! Now I have a huge pile of rubbish by my garage......
                          nothing cheers a girl up like a bit of hard core demo!!!

Anyway, let's get on with the post I actually have planned for you!
I found these beautifully abandoned buildings through a site on tumblr then found other links (obsession of mine, abandoned buildings)
   I love abandoned places, there is something hauntingly beautiful about them.
So, without further a do......
 Bannerman's Castle on Pollepel Island, New York. *****
you can actually take a kayak tour from Cold Springs, NY and view this amazing structure then take a walking tour of the island with a Bannerman Castle Trust historian. How fun would that be!! I think I will need to add this to my list of must visit places, and do the kayak tour!! (maybe next summer??)

Now this beautiful photo is an abandoned castle in East Germany. Love the symmetry of the entry way. This little castle was built between 1709 and 1719. Photo by Andy Starflinger.

Oh, this castle is just awe inspiring.  I could find myself just lost in this place for hours!! I would love to photograph every square foot of this place!!

 Chateau de Noisy, Celles, Houyet, Namur, Belgium (photograph via luxurbex)
Built in 1866 by English Architect Milner as a summer home for the family of the Count of Liedekerke-Beaufort (oh, I wish I could have a summer home like this!!)  There are over 500 windows!
The site mentions this castle is popular amongst urban explorers.  I would really love to have a day or two to explore this gorgeous castle.

  4. How did you find these Callie? Great post... original! (which is hard to do these days). What direction are you taking with your bathroom? I'd love to re-do my guest bathroom (and my master for that matter). I love marble, sleek sinks, clawfoot tubs... but that's all gonna have to wait awhie! :)
