ARTIST: Claire Basler
Amazing Artist!
Claire Basler lives in the outskirts of Paris in a former iron works. {such a life *sigh*} Her home work studio is amazing, read through Elle Decoration UK March 2010 and just fell head over heals for her wonderful space and truly beautiful paintings.
Her home blurs the outside and inside with these huge iron framed windows where natural light just pours into the space. With the high lofty ceilings she can paint on huge canvas.

DESIGN LEGEND: Angelo Donghia
Angelo Donghia
1935-1985

Last week, I attended an amazing lecture about Angelo Donghia. He trained in his fathers tailor shop, then moved to New York to study Interior Design at Parsons. His designs are refined, clean, cosy and elegant. Raw and beautiful, the man who took grey flannel to a whole new level of design.
In 1966 he was chosen to design the Opera Club, Metropolitan Opera House Lincoln Center. With a colour palette of silver foiled ceilings, blue chandeliers and black upholstry, what it there not to love!! I have been searching for any images of the space but alas, I will have to disappoint!! I can't find one anywhere......
But!
his bedroom is amazing!!! His attention to detail and every bit of space is thought through with out over designing.
His client list was just amazing.... Ralph Lauren, ay Tyler Moore, Liza Minelli, Halston, Barbara Walters, Neil Simon....... at the lecture last week, It was mentioned that he designed dressing rooms for Judy Garland. What I would give to have seen her dressing room!!! and have Angelo there to discuss the inspiration behind it all!!
What designer from the past would you love to meet!

DESIGN: The Olde Bell Coaching Inn, Isle Crawford
The Olde Bell Coaching Inn **
High Street Hurley
Berkshire SL6 5LX
UK
Such a beautiful and romantic place. Perfect for the historian in us all. Dating back to 1125, The Olde Bell Inn is the oldest Inn in the UK.
Interiors designed by Isle Crawford, you feel cosy and warm sitting by the fire in a grey upholstered wing chair to hold close while sipping you tea and nibbling biscuits or sit at the bar with a glass of ale and pastie to nibble on while chatting with the bartender, who just may be the owner standing in one of the various jobs around this fabulous Inn.
Just 45 minutes from London,
how can I not visit this lovely place on my next trip to the UK,
hopefully this summer!!

The furnishings of this Inn are amazingly simple and elegant. The colour palette neutral grays, white and black, with a bit of orange in the pub & red in the rooms. Love how there is a small brown betty teapot in numerous images! so sweet!!
I really love her work! Isle is in my top 10 designer crushes!!
I need to go on Holiday now, just need to find the perfect travel companion!

Happy Valentine's Day
image via {frolic}
Who wouldn't love a pretty simple bouquet of roses in soft pinky peach!
paired with pretty ranunculus flowers edged in soft green!
I would love to get such a simple pretty bouquet *sigh*
I am never this lucky!
I so adore pretty pink roses, so much more than any other colour.
They are sweet, pretty and encompass all feelings of delight.
sugary sweet, spun sugar
baby toes
kitten tongues
or receive a pretty and original valentine!
to be honest,
I think I have only received one valentine in my entire life from a male
(beside the ones you get in grade school!)
How pretty is this valentine!! again *sigh*
Wishing you all a wonderfully romantic day!

Murder, Death and Mayhem! Overwhelmed, Sadness-Happiness
Those words describe what has been going on in my life over the past two weeks. I don't usually post about very personal events in my life so I won't go into great detail, it makes me a bit uncomfortable and I am not one to talk about what is going bad or what is hurtful in my life. I always smile, outwardly happy {no matter what I feel inside} and stoic.
I come from a very close knit family and I am very blessed to have a family that is loving, caring and very close..... this extends to my cousins and second cousins as well. My cousin Laine and I talk often and keep each other in check! Love her like a sister.
Well, let's get on with it..... before I chicken out of spilling my inner most feelings to the world to read.
First, I want to thank you all for the kind words and encouragement.
Well, let's start with the first word:
Murder & 40
In 2006 my cousin Richard was killed. Brutally and planned by his girlfriends son! Horrified and devastated my family. He and I are the same age, it killed a bit of my heart. Well after 4 long years, the man took the plea bargain of 20 years over a LONG trial and death by needle.
I hurt he only got 20 years, I felt it should be his entire life time. but his inability to be in society prevailed and he assaulted a Federal Law Officer in prison, they gave him another 20! Giving him 40 years in prison.
Mayhem!
My cousin {whom, I have been searching for, for over 3 years!} suddenly appeared! I am not sure what happened with her and her family, but I do know it had to do with drugs, addiction and money. She is an addict. She took off, lived on the streets homeless and is now getting help {again} I spoke with her last week on the phone.... she sounded good, clean and very sad. Her mother was the one who died. She did not get to say good bye or to make amends. Now her brother are not allowing her to attend the Memorial Service which is causing some rippling of emotions within my family. I feel bad for her, it was her mother too. I don't trust her but she should be able to grieve and seek comfort with her family. I don't forget she is an addict, I don't let my guard down but I do believe in forgiveness. Forgiveness doesn't mean forgetting.
Overwhelmed
Work has been really busy working 10-12 hour days, but I am glad of it! Thankful actually. Keeps my mind of everything outside of work for a bit!!
Sadness
G i miss you.
Happiness
I seek beauty in the world; the beautiful woods for long walks with my dog in the snow. Talking on the phone with my niece Claire {who wants me to call her Lola *smile* Got to love sweet british Lola of Charlie and Lola} who tried to get my dog to bark for 20 minutes, hearing her giggle and laugh!
Knowing I have a loving and caring family who I speak to daily on the phone through out the day!
and all my friends who support me through it all! and you my bloggy friends! your encouragement, support, comments and friendship means the world to me.
On Monday, I will begin posting again!
I have been collecting and researching. I have some great posts to share.
I do hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. Keep enjoying life. and many thanks for reading through this bit!

Death
As you most know my beautiful aunt passed away. I will always remember her smile and her laugh!Mayhem!
