DESIGN: it's all about scale

I love items that are big and out of scale,
especially items that are unpredictable!

This large bird painting!

I am not a blue person but these drapes! Luscious!!!
love how long they are over the high arched window.
just stunning

This room is marvelous with the stripe on the wall and ceiling.
completely over the top.
The scale of the sofa in the narrow room,
mmmmmm and that pop of yellow! Heellllllloo
love it!!
Emily Walkers whole house is lovely! view here
Love the little yellow side table next to the big cosy bed.
The large print of the rug if fantastic with its graphic details!
I love playing with scale, in unexpected ways.

How do you feel about objects that jump out at you?
big, small, bright, different.

M.I.A and what not

image: Max Wanger
I sooooooo miss this view! Rennie, my friend this would be us overlooking  LA on our weekly hike and then heading to the griddle for breakfast!!!  so miss you!

I have been so busy lately!!!!..... so busy that I have not had time to think or do the things I really like to do.

I was so busy, I buzzed right by my birthday without a thought.
I broke up with someone that meant a lot to me and I haven't even had time to even think about it. (actually, he broke up with me)

Crazy how life can go in complete fast forward and you have no control. I feel like I am running a marathon at at sprint!  I just hit mile 24 and I need to rest.  I am just so tired.

I hope to back to normal soon.  I have so many idea's and thoughts for this little bloggy world of mine and I miss visiting all my favorites.
I promise my friends, I will be back soon.  Just need to tidy up my life and all will be well.

miss you all. and MANY MANY thanks for always being there for me!

I promise my post are now going to be more consistent and I am already starting to feel better:)

Snowy Saturday!

I had big plans for the weekend! gardening :)

Then this morning, I woke up to quite softness! Like I was wrapped in a warm duvet cover. I looked out the window..... and snow!!
Well, now that it is snowing I do believe that gardening will be out of the question. So, I am now thinking of organizing my stuff!

I found this lovely image of collected items! I love how all the jars have red lids. and the glass filled terraniums, and some with glass lids. I adore succulents, and this is such a pretty way to display them.

So, I will be organizing my stuff! What are you doing this weekend?
I hope you all have a happy weekend!

Publisher Melissa Ulfane founded Pushkin in 1997. I am so happy to find such a company to feed my obsession of devouring books.  I love to carry books in my bag, hold the book and read the words while on the train, standing in line or taking a lunch break at work. Nothing, NOTHING is better then a books to hold and read.
Thank you Melissa Ulfane for your dedication and commitment to the written word!

You can even join the book club and be sent a book a month for a year. Go here for more details!!

I REALLY REALLY WANT THIS BOOK!!

from the site: {*sigh*}
"Ero dietro di te: you know what that means in English? It means I was behind you. She was actually sitting at a table behind us for the entire meal and she spent the whole time watching me without me realising. It’s funny, but I’m starting to think that it wouldn’t be stretching it to read something really symbolic into that phrase. It could also mean: “For all this time, all these years, I’ve been right behind you, as close as can be, and you didn’t notice me. It’s obvious you and I were meant to be together, but we screwed it up every time. Still, I’m right here, right now, and I want you to know it, the ball’s in your court, you won’t be able to say no one told you and complain you let the chance of a lifetime slip through your fingers.” See what I mean?"

Hope you enjoy browsing the book listing as much as I did.

QUOTE: Feeling Blue, drink Vodka! or a cup of tea.

"Blue doesn't go everywhere for me. It's successful on islands or in a kitchen in the South, anyplace hot or watery. But if I'm inland or in a northern climate --a house in Mineapolis, say, or a farmhouse in Virginia -- there's nothing bleaker than a blue room in winter. It makes me feel 10 degrees colder. I've never understood why that certain blue-gray shade is so popular in Scandinavia and northern Russia. People drink vodka to get through those winters! Why in the world would they paint a room icy blue and make matters worse?"
~Barry Dixon
House Beautiful, March 2010

When I was at the bookstore, and picked up this magazine I almost didn't buy it!

I am not a fan of blue. But some of the images, actually the article on "Blue as a Titian" Interior Designed by Babs Watkins, Julie Watkins Baker & Eleanor Cummings is why I purchased the magazine this month! They did a wonderful interior of this Houston home with beautiful antiques and luscious drapery in soft wonderfully muted shades of blues, grays, lilac, and olive greens and gilding. So beautifully done, see the photo above and you will see such loveliness without so much BLUE. I had to use this quote, it made me laugh out loud!!
In this room I would enjoy a cup of tea and a few biscuits, oh who am I kidding at least 5 biscuits and a pot of tea!!

Your thoughts on blue?

INTERIORS: Country Parsonage with a bit of quirk!

This lovely home,  owned by stylist Laura Campbell & her husband Adam Hall  is amazingly cosy, quirkly, lovely and down right urban smash country!

Sweet country kitchen with lovely urban details, the light fixtures and the black framed clock. Love the dainty floral.

This room is just perfectly blended: Antique crystal chandeliers and the sheep skin draped chairs which are vintage Castelli  DSC 106 Chairs, Haworth.
And the living room is just gorgeous with the gray sofa, simple Bertoia chair from Knoll, the reflective wall covering, Osborne & Little.

The unexpected pops of magenta!  Throughout

Adam's office is perfect! Love that desk, the Bertoia chair and that MAP!!
Then when I saw this fireplace with the shelves installed!!
LOVE!!!! my mind was going crazy... I need to find a vintage fireplace surround like this and install shelving so I have place pretty objects, books with gilded edges SO I CAN FLIP MY BOOKS, similar to Kristen at simplygrove watch the video of her husband, *giggle* to the response of mean people) I LOVE THIS IDEA!
or add fairy lights or batter operated candles.

This pretty mirror!

This room with the large stencil flower above the headboard and the billowy floral drapery adds a bit of red drama, which I am gushing over! Also look at that magnificent plaid blanket eeeeeee, happy to cuddle with the sweet pretty thing!
and this wonderful playroom! The exposed brick painted white and the loft hide away!
Now this gorgeously painted wall in Midnight blue is perfect with the black framed photos!! Love how they just pop on the wall!

This house is fun, quirky, a fabulous mix of rustic and modern. With each room a different colour with elements of surprise.
What do you love about this house?
