ARCHITECTURE: Chris Tate

Chris Tate designed his home with the concept that was more about the environment than the building itself. He built a home that is truly gorgeous, simple lined and eco conscious in the heart of the New Zealand tropical forest. It reminds me a bit of Philip Johnson's glass house, {which I have secretly dreamt of owning a house in the middle of nowhere with glass all around. see my post here} so this house truly got my attention.

The house designed around the ancient puriri tree on the site, was to become the focus. With a simple open plan interior the jungle becomes the focus and is a stunning view. The colour palette of white, black and bits of lime green is another amazing blend of outside and in.... the materials of glass and wood play just make it all come together.
Just take a look at this amazing house and let me know what you think!
gorgeous right!

  1. Beautiful! So clean and pure but upscale at the same time. Love! Callie, hoping you are feeling better and that you had some time to rest up this weekend!
