ARTIST: Helen Simmonds, Still Life

'Eden'
Helen Simmonds depicts classic still life subjects in oils with such detail and texture. I love the gradation of grey backgrounds that make the subject matter read is brilliant colour. Born in Watford, Hertfordshire and educated at the Bath Academy of Art. Her work is visually stunning! I love the textures, the colours, the subjects simple yet meticulously painted to move them beyond the simplicity. To perfection.
What artists are making an impression on you lately?

  1. I love the wild roses picture. Making still life seem real I think is such a talent. Thank you for bringing her to my attention x

  2. Love these milky whites and the painterly quality--they are indeed perfection! Swing by to see my new weekly art inspiration and tell me if you'd go for the soup can look :)

  3. I really liked this, thanks. I'm discovering Swedish artist Gunnel Wåhlstrand right now, her work is also very "real", but also a little scary. Google her!

  4. Thank you for sharing this. I like the second painting maybe because of the pop of blue. I'm a little bit more modern when it comes to paintings like abstract expressionism for example.
