DESIGN: Trends for 2011

The year has started off with a bang, with me running full speed!   

                        R U N N I N G! (good thing I distance run!! hehe)

Exciting and fun things are on the horizon. Crazy busy is an understatement.... just the way I love it, keeps my mind active and creative.  

I am working on some exciting  events but will have to update you later  (i promise!) but in the mean time, I hope to get your creative juices flowing with the next few months post on 4 different styles of trends. 

The month of February will be all about Glam design and of all "Design Diva's" who should be queen of Glam interiors but Kelly Weastler, I will throw in a bit of Dorothy Draper....and Mary McDonald. Blending Hollywood regency and rococo redux with a bit of bling that is sexy and theatrical.

I hope to inspire and get you excited about gorgeous design!

DESIGN: Helkat Design = Fabulous

I was flipping through my magazine on the train last night and came across this amazing women! 

                     Helen Swanston

She lives in Wiltshire England and makes the most incredible throw pillows! Simple, graphic and utterly perfect for my house.  She recently won the 2010 everywomen Hestia Award. 

She has a lovely etsy site for easy purchase of one of these lovelies! Go one, buy one for yourself! I am going to get the "butterfly" one for my niece, Lulu and the "stars and stripes" for me.

Write this way.....

This lovely little writing desk has me all happy!! That graphic on the wall is perfection. The sweet vintage desk, slightly worn.... I could write many a letter here, at this lovely spot.

            Do you love to hand write letters?  I love receiving them as well as writing  them.  

My grandmother ingrained in me the romance of letter writing.  When you receive a hand written note, you know that person was thinking of you. So, I think this week you all should write one hand written letter to someone! 

Let me know who you are writing, just remember when writing a formal correspondence, the rules: "Dear sir" requires a "Yours faithfully" sign-off, while a letter addressing a named recipient ends 'Yours sincerely'

It's Friday!!

This week has been crazy, what am I saying...... MONTH!

I feel I am so behind and no rest for the weary.

I have to work at 6am tomorrow and not looking 

forward to the -24 wind chill today and tomorrow.

Not complaining, ok just a little! I just feel really behind in my personal life.

Miss my favorite reads, my sleep and my just plain me time.

Sunday.... just looking forward to Sunday and a glass of wine!

I love that sofa! oh, and that floor lamp, the chandelier..... the throw pillows could be thrown away, not really liking them but that sofa! love the colour and the texture!

DESIGN: White and Wonderful

When I woke up this morning, it was snowing!  I love it when I have a day off work and it snows so I can enjoy the peacefulness and cosy up on my sofa with a stack of magazines and a cup of coffee! oh, and Sassy curled up at my feet!

I thought of this house, which I saw many months ago..... A Victorian in North London. Paul Massey's conversion is amazing in white and wonder. The warmth of the shades of white, to greys and all the wonderful flooding of light!! The interior  is full of sunshine and warmth, but it reminds me of the beautiful snowy outdoors with all the slight colour shifts; white to grey. So winter!
