GLAMOROUS: Designer, Christina Murphy

Named one of America's top 100 Designers by House Beautiful
Christina Murphy graduated from Georgetown Uni, The American Institute for Foreign Study in Italy and the New York School of Interior Design
She has worked for Kemble Interiors and has been published in numerous magazines.

Her designs and use of colour is bold and exciting, she knows when to add neutral to a space for that big impact from one room to the next. Her use of textures and prints are unexpected and welcoming.
Her ability to establish beauty along with practicality creates spaces that are cosy and welcome.
I particularly love the dark glossed magenta walls with the wonderful black and white photography.

QUOTE: Rhubarb, pretty shades of pink

"Actors in the background of a film or stage in the thirties would say "Rhubarb" repeatedly to create nonsensical noise, which was parodied by Spike Mulligan in The Goons' Rhubarb Rhubarb sketch."
**sorry posting so late! went out with friends last night for drinks and slept in this morning.

I love the colour of rhubarb!
Mixed with chartreuse, *sigh* makes me happy!
Here are a few interiors shots from Livingetc that have pink, shots of pretty.
What is your favorite colour combo at the moment?
I am loving inky blue & lavender and rhubarb & chartreuse obviously.

BRITISH SERIES: Brilliantly British

I love the black and white stripes on these cornishware pieces!
I first came  across cornishware from Liz at Violet Posey.  Yes, I had seen them but I didn't know it was called Cornishware.  T.G. Green first produced the lovely blue and white in 1926.  Prized by collectors, I myself have fallen for the lovely black and white stripes
I would love to have these striped beauties in my kitchen!!
Their Domino collection is quite lovely too!
It would be pretty to mix and match the two patterns.

Just purchased this Sex Pistols poster
for my nieces room that I am designing.
She loves music and princess' so I thought this would
be fantastic to hang above her desk!
(i do want a sex pistol poster for myself as well as posted here)

This perfectly coloured Union Jack pillow will go in LuLu's room!
by British etsy seller Karen hilton designs

I have been busy designing my nieces bedrooms in their new house.  My sister is in California and since I am over a thousand miles away, it is a bit difficult and she is driving me crazy with the hurry up and pick paint colours! But I think we came up with 2 great schemes.... Claire's room with be greys and pinks with a bit of purple and Lu's room will be Inky blue with troll green with touches of aqua and pink.  Once, they are complete I promise to post photos!

It has been raining buckets here and I am all about comfort!
KEEPING ME TOASTY!
This cosy wrap "Elodie Cardigan" from Toast
The stripes are a weakness

SOMETHING WARM FOR MY BELLY!
During these cold weather spells I love to eat comfort food,
such as these tasty hand held pies.
Video Instruction here with recipe to make
mmm, easy as... pie!

DIY: Bathroom Renovation

FINALLY!
Right!

I am finally posting my bathroom renovation.  I still have a few items to buy: TP stand, towel bar, a different shower curtain, new window with roman shade.
(but I am looking for just the right pieces so it may be awhile)

Remember back in the summer I posted over at Vana's, le papier on my bathroom inspiration with wonderful images to get my creative side jiving, the before images on "This Bathroom has  got to go!" with  horribly ugly plastic tiles and metallic floral wall covering and peeling paint, to the design and shopping for tile post  then the wall covering which I never purchased because, well the bathroom is so small I thought it would be better just to use paint and be more graphic on the curtain.... but alas, I am changing that now too!

GLAMOROUS: Palmer Weiss

Today, I have the day of for the President's Holiday!
Yeah for me! Slept in until 8:00, walked the dog and now I am enjoying a steaming hot cup of coffee while I post and read some of my favorites this morning!  This weekend was crazy busy. My house looks like a tornado went through it! Shifting furniture, hanging art (lost of art!) moving stacks of books and magazines. Organizing getting ready for spring!  How was your weekend?

Continuing with Glamorous design this month, today I bring you

Palmer Weiss
A southern girl from South Carolina
Lives in San Francisco
She designs with beautiful balance of familial, formal yet livable, functional with a touch of southern eccentricity with bursts of colour.

I enjoy her use of modern furniture in traditional settings, she blends and blurs the lines of the eras combining them harmoniously.  The glint and glamour is minimal but glamorous, just the right amount of pretty. The textures she uses are a visual delight from grass cloth wall covering to pretty lightly colours glass lamp bases to shiny patton leather on seating to lacquered pieces with a gloss beauty all their own. Oh, and I love her occasional use of animal print!
