Please hang in there with me, I will be back to full force very soon!!
BTW, I really love this image! the composition, the colours and the portraits! I always find the best images for inspiration over at Emma's! Do check out her lovely blog! you will be inspired.

Memorial Day 2011

Memorial Day!
It's more than just an extra day of on the weekend. It's a day of remembrance for those who fought for our freedom and have given their lives for ours. A day of reflectance, a day to enjoy the moments you have with your family because of their bravery.
Remember them, a moment of silence to thank them for their brave act and unbreakable courage.

images here during a "Flags In" detail at Arlington Heights Cemetery.  The flags are placed on each grave to honour the fallen soldier a few days before Memorial Day, they remain until the conclusion of Memorial Day Weekend.  It is the only time durning the year when American Flags are permitted at all grave sites in the Cemetery.

PHOTOGRAPHY: Reflections, dots, favorites and purple

all shots photographer: William Waldron
I love how the reflection of the buildings are captured in the glass!
Such a gorgeous shot of a big white peony, my favorite flower. I just purchased a few of these bell jars, I will have to place some of my flowers under them once they bloom in my garden.
Gorgeous shot!
The pink, green and white are perfectly happy with that touch of gold!
I have to say this is my favorite shot of Williams!
The blue vase is perfect with the chartreuse, golden yellow and brown sunflowers.
This shot is pretty awesome as well!

I am so ready for spring! It has been raining, so coming on flowers bloom, bloom !!!
Have a happy day!

DESIGN: Loving this sitting area!

Image: elle decor
Home & Designer: Robert Couturier
Photographer: WIlliam Abranowicz

Something about this room makes me happy! Not sure if it's the zebra pattern sofa, or the portrait by Richard Cosway or the ebony and tortoiseshell mirrors.
Or perhaps it the throw pillows
but then, I think it's all of it put together by the ever talented Robert Couturier.
*sigh*
Go to his site to see more!
Have a great Monday my friends!

QUOTE: pragmatically understandable

Designed by Vignellis
Massimo & Lella

"I like design to be
semantically correct,
syntactically consistent, and
pragmatically understandable.

I like it to be visually powerful,
intellectually elegant, and
above all timeless."

~Massimo Vignelli

The ubiquitous melamine dinnerware. Neatly set utensils on plate and stack! nice an neat. This design is amazingly sexy, just look at the sculptural view of the stacked mugs. They come in a rainbow of colours but I am partial to the white!
Perfect for dinner out on the patio!

This entry way has been in my inspiration file forever!  I love the frames leaning up against the wall with the paintings hung tight together. Then the simple chaise with table off set on the rug.  I love the stair with no railing, I just love this space!

HOUSE: New York Brown Stone

I am smitten with the lighting in this house! The home of Kerry Russell is bright, gorgeous and absolutely cosy with a bit of sexy.  I love the light fixtures that were used through out the home, the chandelier in the living room and then duplicated in the dining room. The single bulb fixture in the kitchen and similar single bulb in the bath are simple yet extremely sexy.  The abundance of natural lighting is amazing and welcome in each room.  Her home is lovely!

Natural Resources

How gorgeous is this natural bridge!! A columned glacial bridge, Antarctica
I have been all about nature this week. Walking the pup last night I have to say the air smelt heavenly! The heady, mind dizzy scent of lilacs  filled the air with such sweet smells I was happy as can be.... then I found a huge lilac tree in an alley and plucked a few branches, my tree is slow blooming at the moment. So now my home smells lovely!
What is your favorite scent this week?

Trash Talk!

In 1931 Holger Nielsen wins a car! sells car {he doesn't have a driving license, Yeah for us right!!) invests in a metal lathe! {thank God!, just look at that gorgeous bin!!!} In 1939 he designs this rubbish bin for his lovely bride Marie, for her beauty salon... then many doctor wives and dentist wives come to get beauty'd up! They think the bin is perfect for their husbands clinics, so now this rubbish bin is a permanent feature in all Danish clinics! and the world!
AND
now I want one in my home!!
"Good design never goes out of fashion" ~Holger

he is right,  I so want that matte black bin!!  It is in my reno file for the kitchen!!
Happy Day to you all, go out and smell the lilacs!

Outdoor Space.

I have been working on my garden all weekend! The sun was shining and my flowers are all a bloom.  I dug up those day lilies along the fence (view this post for a plan from last year.... the area on the right is where all the day lilies are located), the thousand bulbs of  day lilies! I am almost done.  Just about 30 more feet to dig up!  Once, completed I will be planting tomato plants and herbs in the middle section, climbing roses on the end.  In the shaded are I have planted ferns and lily of the valley bulbs, which are doing very well.
My peonies are starting to reach for the sky on the opposite side of the yard!  (view here from last year, guest posted at Le Papier Studio) They should be nice, full and blooming by months end.
I love spring!
Well, on to why I have used these two photos!
I love the benches and table. The raw chunky wood is just beautiful!  When I was young my parents had a picnic table and we had bbq's all the time. This table and benches are perfect for my little home! I would love to have them in my back garden, invite over my best friends and just have a wonderful time! I hope to have many bbq's and gatherings this summer.

and how awesome is that fence!
What are you looking forward to this summer?
