BUSY BEE!

           I am planning a quick road trip! 
I am going to Kentucky.
                   Lexington to be exact! December 10th & 11th.
I am just driving down for a weekend and have started to plan..... I was a bit stuck on where to stay and what to do.... when bam! in my mail box yesterday a 2011 Visitor planning guide for Lexington, KY arrived!!  Now that is definitely a sign that I am to go!  I will only be there for 2 days. I hope to see horses, taste some bourbon, eat great food, relax and enjoy. I may be meeting a friends parents for dinner, need to give them a call.  I will be blogging on the road trip (hope to have my new ipad, to do so this weekend)

This week is shaping up to be a horrendous week!  Meetings back to back, projects and request due in quick turn around and financial statements on projects due by weeks end...... ugh! The Georgia home of Interior Designer, Elizabeth Tyler Kennedy is absolutely one of my favorites in Novembers House Beautiful!
Just look at this porch dining area over looking the river! and the dining room below, flooded with light!  I wish I could find more on this designer but it is proving to be fruitless searching on google, how can that be?  I ask??

DIY: Holiday projects with friend

This weekend is made for crafting!  I will be working on Holiday DIY projects with my friend Kat, who has decided she would like to be more crafty.  I am more than happy to help.  I know she will be good at crafting, just convincing her will be difficult :)

We are making wreaths with evergreens cut from her yard, peppermint bark gifts to sell at the Holiday Fair at work and placing tags on my crochet items that I will be selling.

Should be a day of fun! 

Merriment, wine, good friends and then finishing off with a dinner of pheasant!

I am so happy for my friend Jeremy! 

He deserves every bit of happiness, and I am so excited that she said yes!

Some of you may remember my sad post on my friend Meg who lost her battle with a rare form of Leukemia.   She was the love of Jeremy's life, mother of their two small children and friend to many.   A love like that is rare and when it can happen twice in a life time! well, that just equals happiness. 

Jeremy! Congrats to you and Stephanie!! I am truly happy for you!

THANKFUL: family and friends

I am thankful for all my friends and family!

Today, is a day of reflection and great-fullness.  I live far from my family and only fly to the West Coast at Christmas, so Thanksgiving is a time I spend with my friends.  Today, the weather is warmer outside than usually {bummer, no snow!!}
I have lots of plans......

first, I am pulling out my holiday decorations because this year! YES, this year I am putting up my decorations instead of them sitting in a box because I was too busy with work to decorate my house for Christmas.  {No worries my friends, tree trimming party is being planned for December 17th!}

Then, I will prepare my cheese plate and wrap the bottles of wine for dinner.  I will walk to my good friends house, Brian and Nicole! They were kind enough to invite me to join them in celebrating this wonderful day of Thankfulness and I am thankful for my friends!

And I am thankful for all my blogger friends who over the years I have gotten to know and some of you I have met!  Thank you for following along, and I am looking forward to new inspiration for blogging over the next few months..... I will be getting my ipad next week and then off on a road trip to Lexington, Kentucky the second weekend in December! so excited to document that little road trip.

MELT DOWN, not so pretty

Ok, today was a bad day!

I had a complete melt down about 7:00 pm

Over the last week I have worked major over time...........

from last Monday to today, 81 hours!

I am tired and have to be back at work in the morning at 630 then head 

over to the conference by 700am

While at the conference, my boss said that I had to answer every email sent during the day by end of business....{she really didn't want to send me to this conference, tried everything she could to not let me go}

well, as you can guess, she emailed me a lot today.  which was somewhat distracting during an amazing conference my phone kept beeping.

I was in a working session, where we were trying to change a behavior with ourselves that would make us a better leader, when I got this really awful email.
 I won't get into the details, but she cc'd numerous people and didn't have my back on an issue (which, I feel she should have spoken to me first since I did send out the information that was needed months ago, I verified when I got back to the office.  but now the damage is done) 

I am running on no sleep, and stress from getting my project to a point that I could go to this event that is really important to me. 
When I got back to the office after 7pm I ran into someone, she said, "love our space! you did a great job, the move was smooth!"  

Well, I just lost it.  

                  I started to cry! tears just streamed and I couldn't stop. 

It was horrible.   

  I so need a hug right now. and some sleep.  

I kinda feel like this bear right now!

Today, I am going by work for a bit to check on my project process (moves are underway!!) Worked well over 16 hours yesterday!!!
               Then I will be off to the Women's Leadership Summit!!!!!!!!!  
I am so very excited about this event, I went in 2008 in San Francisco but this year they are in Chicago.  It is such an amazing event.  Nothing is better than a 1000 women in a huge room supporting each other and learning!


I will updating you on the event when it's over and if I have a moment in between session durning.... but if you look at the link you will see I will be quite busy with all this awesomeness!! I highly recommend you try to go next year!!  It is truly amazing.  I feel so inspired after I attend.

DESIGN: Cosy Cottage in Vermont!

Sweet Cottage in Vermont, once a summer camp. The structure is a 1970's Quebecois kit and it is perfect, perfectly cosy.  The owners have added a new roof line and new siding, updating the house to be a cosy, lovely home!

I love the unexpected bits of colour, texture and the mixes of old and new.

WEEKEND: keeping busy!

This week as you know has not been the best week for me, but I am getting through!  I have kept busy, had dinner with the girls on Friday. Saturday was a day of work from the early hours to a power nap in the afternoon to a long drive to my dear friend Katherine's house for a dinner party and ending the evening sitting out by a bonfire sipping really fantastic wine.

Then today, got up early and just kept BUSY! Seriously, I cleaned my house and did tons of laundry with music blaring ... so I can break out into dance when needed.... when thoughts would wonder.  Made food for the week, since I am working so much I haven't been eating but continuing to run {I lost a lot of weight this week! eek, not in a good way, my pants are baggy...skinny jeans do not look good baggy} Worked on the blog and read a bit which proved to be difficult to concentrate.

Tried to talk with my sister which didn't go well.... I ended up hanging up on her. :(

I ran errands this afternoon and bought myself a lot of pretty under things!!  Nothing is better than to buy some lacy pretties for you to feel pretty!!  temporary fix, I know! 

Still moving through the day and missing z.
            But I am getting through... slowly and just keeping really busy!

Watching my favorite show and complete addiction... Vampire Diaries, my 'vampire porn'  this really tore at me.... I haven't heard it in a long time, had to search through all my old music and realized it's an old Kate Bush song remake by Greg Laswell.  And well done!  Such a beautiful song.

This week has been extremely trying and I am so glad it's the weekend, even though I have to work. It probably is a blessing.... to keep my mind off all that is going on, to focus on getting my project completed.
                 I really do missing laughing with you, z.  I really do.

I need to get away!
I am tired and drained, completely exhausted!  I haven't been sleeping and work, well I am on my way out the door now to go to work and it isn't even 6am yet!
                I think I need a road trip.... Maybe after the Thanksgiving holiday, I will take a driving trip somewhere.  Kentucky perhaps! Michigan! I don't know, just somewhere away!

I love the fact that my lead carpenter at work, who also happens to be my neighbor knows me so well! This week has been busy with the moves and my construction project screaming full speed, working long, very long hours.... stopped by to bring me a shot of Jim Beam!! awesome!

FREAK: My eyes, today are aqua!

Today, all day my eyes have been aqua blue.
                Typically they are green, but they are this strange colour
      with bits of yellowish green near my iris.

I'm just saying! I want them green again.
                   There is a reason they're this colour, green please come back.

These pillows are fantastically cheeky and I think they would make a great statement in my home!
Alexandra Ferguson, sassy pillow company is a company that has the environment in mind by using all recycled products for her sassy pillow collections. And made in the USA from beginning to end. What more can you ask for!

There are so many really amazing sayings it was hard to decide which was my favorite, until I came to the last pillow: see below!  That pillow needs a place in my bedroom!!  I bought a tea vessel at an artist fair because on the bottom he wrote "I just want to make out!" and I laughed, so now you see... I really need to add that pillow to my collection because nothing is better than having a good snog!
